Supply Chain and Logistics Specialist

Job Summary

The role of the Supply Chain and Logistics Specialist is to provide analysis, forecasts, and purchasing management for the AeroGrow supply chain – both domestic and international. 

Provide timely and accurate communication of inventory and shipping status to all parties involved.  Ensure cost effective, timely shipment while upholding standards.

Essential Functions

The key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Create and maintain procurement forecast tool based on provided sales forecast and trend analysis.
  • Set up, issue, submit and monitor purchase orders for all manufacturing – both domestic and international. 
  • Work with accounting to maintain the standard cost for all SKUs.  Analyze and resolve any deviations from standard costs.
  • Work with accounting to ensure timely payments of purchase orders.
  • Manage inventory levels and re-order of all seed kit materials, packaging, supplies, etc.
  • Monitor shipping metrics and freight forwarder performance.
  • Coordinate and manage in-bound shipping of goods – both domestic and international. Communicate effectively and thoroughly any deviation in our in-bound shipping.
  • Track the progress of the purchase orders and expedite the manufacturing and shipping of our inventory to meet anticipated arrival requirements.
  • Conduct all activity with cost objective mindset e.g. cost reductions, cost containment, budget compliance etc.
  • Play a role in vendor selection. Monitor vendor metrics and performance.
  • Other duties assigned or assignments(s) may be subject to change.

Skills, Knowledge and Ability Required:

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel including pivot table proficiency. 
  • Ability to provide and interpret data and make appropriate recommendations is essential.  
  • Excellent math skills and the ability move a project from concept to reality are also required. 
  • Excellent communication skills with international and domestic supply chain partners are essential. 

Work experience and Education Required:

  • A college degree is strongly preferred, but not required. 
  • Experience in inventory forecasting or analysis a plus. 
  • Experience in inventory forecasting or analysis a plus. 
  • Experience in presenting and interacting with executive team and CEO is a must.

Work Environment:

Standard office environment.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit in front of a computer, and engage in discussions (both talk and listen).  In addition, the job requires occasional standing and be able to lift up to 20lbs. The employee is rarely required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch.
